Drainage & Flood Control

Rio Verde Area Drainage Master Plan
Maricopa County, Arizona

The purpose of the Rio Verde Area Drainage Master Plan (ADMP) was to identify the flooding problems, flooding sources, and flooding hazards in the Rio Verde area and to identify alternatives to mitigate the identified concerns. Development is occurring rapidly in this area and existing and potential flood control problems needed to be identified. Alternative solutions were developed to either reduce flooding through structural means, identify flooding hazards through floodplain delineation, manage development by producing guidelines, or a combination of all three. The ADMP boundary limits are McDowell Mountain Regional Park boundary limits to the south, the top of the watershed limits at approximately 115th Street alignment to the west, approximately Tonto National Forest boundary limits to the north, and the Verde River to the east. This area encompasses approximately 50 square miles.
