Florence Retarding Dam
- Design of Emergency Spillway
Florence, Arizona
Dibble provided survey controls and topographic check
for the as-built drawings, developed cross-sections
for hydraulic analysis, conducted sediment storage evaluation,
and calculated reservoir volume loss due to dam realignment.
A model to evaluate the hydrology of the 62.5 square
mile watershed upstream of the five-mile dam was facilitated
by the use of GIS. The GIS-based hydrologic model was
used to generate peak flows for 100-year flood events
involving 6-hour and 24-hour duration storms, and for
the probable maximum flood (PMF) required for the design
of the emergency spillway.
