Ellsworth Loop Road Improvement District
Queen Creek, Arizona

Dibble completed the design of over four miles of roadway in the Town of Queen Creek, including the Ellsworth Loop Road from north of Chandler Heights Road to Queen Creek Road and Rittenhouse Road from east of Hawes Road to Ocotillo Road. Ellsworth Loop Road was designed as a by-pass route for trucks and commuter traffic to avoid traveling through downtown Queen Creek, and also provides access for significant proposed commercial developments within the Town. Most of the roadway was designed with 6 travel lanes and a raised median. The design included a depressed intersection at Ellsworth Loop Road and Rittenhouse Road that required a major bridge structure design to take Ellsworth Loop Road under the existing Union Pacific Railroad

The design contract involved many disciplines including transportation, drainage, water resources, structures, traffic, geotechnical, mapping, environmental, and landscape architecture.

This project was selected for the Maricopa Association of Governments' Desert Peak Award for Public-Private Partnership.
