Reflecting on AFMA 2025: Collaboration, Innovation, and Resilience in Tucson

Last week, Dibble had the pleasure of attending the Arizona Floodplain Management Association (AFMA) Conference in Tucson, and what an inspiring experience it was! The event brought together professionals from across the state who are passionate about advancing floodplain management, infrastructure resilience, and sustainable planning. It was a powerful reminder of how collaboration and shared expertise can drive meaningful change in our communities.
From engaging sessions to thought-provoking conversations, AFMA 2025 delivered a dynamic platform for learning and connection. One of the highlights for us was the presentation by our very own Josh Papworth and Marco Aldaz, who shared their expertise on hydraulic models for culvert design. Their session sparked valuable dialogue around smarter, safer infrastructure solutions tailored to Arizona’s unique landscape and challenges.
Beyond the technical insights, the conference was a celebration of a community of professionals coming together to support resilient futures. We left Tucson energized by the ideas exchanged and the partnerships formed, ready to apply what we learned to the work ahead.
Thank you to AFMA for hosting such a meaningful event. We’re proud to be part of a network that’s shaping the future of floodplain management in Arizona.
