Dibble Attends 2024 Arizona APWA Conference

Dibble and Dibble CM attended the Arizona APWA Conference from August 14-16, 2024 at the beautiful El Conquistador Restor in Tucson, AZ. Our booth allowed participants to test their water distribution skills with our latest version of Aqualibrium.

Seth Chalmers, PE, Dibble’s Director of Traffic Engineering, gave an impactful presentation on “Guardrail and Guardrail End Treatment Issues and ‘Frankensteined’ Guardrail” on Thursday, August 15. Guardrails and GETs are crucial for roadway safety, but they must be correctly installed, maintained, and periodically assessed. Seth shared about the basics of GETs, the importance of upgrading to current standards, and identifying problematic “Frankensteined” guardrails.

Additionally, Keith Faucett, PE, our Utilities Senior Project Manager, presented on “Northwest Outfall Sewer Siphon: Building Bridges to Solve Problems” on Thursday, August 15. Pima County’s Northwest Outfall Sewer Siphon faced significant issues with odors, corrosion, and debris accumulation, impacting the surrounding area. To address these challenges, Dibble used advanced 3D modeling to design corrosion-resistant siphon structures that optimize system performance and maintainability. The design included innovative features like a single-pipe flow channel to increase velocity and large access hatches for easier maintenance. This project showcases the power of innovative design and effective collaboration.

We appreciated the opportunity to connect with colleagues and present on these topics at the APWA Conference!
