Dibble Selected to Lead Environmental Assessment for New Air Traffic Control Tower at Pinal Airpark

Dibble is proud to announce it has been selected to lead the Environmental Assessment for the proposed air traffic control tower at Pinal Airpark (MZJ). This critical infrastructure project will enhance airport safety and improve airspace efficiency in the region, supporting the growing needs of the aviation community.

Pinal County’s remarkable growth potential, its abundance of available land, and a highly cooperative local government propelled Pinal Airpark to the top of the application list for FAA and grant funding. With FAA funding in place, this project is a top priority for advancing regional airspace and transportation objectives. Home to major aviation operations such as Ascent Aviation Services, Silverbell Army Heliport, and soon Digiflight, the Airpark is positioned for further development. The addition of a modern air traffic control tower, enabled by this environmental assessment, is expected to further stimulate airport and countywide growth.

As the lead on this Environmental Assessment, Dibble will ensure compliance with applicable federal regulations, including FAA guidelines, and conduct a thorough review to facilitate the successful development of the air traffic control tower. This project underscores Dibble’s commitment to advancing aviation infrastructure and contributing to safer, more efficient air travel in Arizona. Pinyon Environmental is a key environmental partner on this project, providing specialized technical analysis.

“We are honored to be chosen for this important role at Pinal Airpark,” said Charlie McDermott, Dibble’s Project Manager. “Our team’s expertise in environmental assessments and aviation projects will help deliver vital improvements that support the region’s transportation goals and safety standards.”

The project is set to commence in early 2026 and is anticipated to be completed by 2027 allowing design and construction to follow.
