Sloan’s Lake Medical Center Renovations
Enhancing Emergency Access at Sloan’s Lake Medical Center

The Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) is investing in important upgrades at Sloan’s Lake Medical Center in Denver, CO, focusing on improvements to the ambulance drop-off area on the north side of the facility. These enhancements are designed to strengthen patient access, streamline emergency operations, and improve the overall functionality of the site.
The project began with the demolition of the freestanding canopy and supporting structure at the ambulance entrance. In its place, the team is constructing a new ambulance drop-off canopy, built to provide greater protection from the elements and a safer, more efficient environment for patients, first responders, and hospital staff.
In addition to the canopy replacement, the project includes potential modifications to the entry and exit drives that serve the ambulance drop-off zone. These adjustments will improve traffic flow and ensure smoother, faster access for emergency vehicles—an essential feature when every second counts.
Because the site is already fully developed, design and construction efforts required thoughtful coordination. With residential neighborhoods located immediately north and multi-family developments to the east, the team placed special emphasis on grading and drainage improvements. These upgrades ensure effective stormwater management while minimizing disruption to both the medical center and its surrounding community.
Through this project, HCA is reinforcing its commitment to patient care and community health by creating a safer, more efficient emergency access point at Sloan’s Lake Medical Center. It’s a meaningful investment in both the hospital’s operations and the neighborhoods it serves.
