Erica Trommler
Assistant Engineer and Construction Machine Enthusiast
Do you have a hobby? Tell us about it.
I really enjoy playing instruments (mostly piano and ukulele), riding my bike, and doing jigsaw puzzles. I also love construction machines and anything civil engineering or construction related!
What is your chosen discipline? Why do you love it?
I decided to pursue civil engineering because of the tangible impact it has on society. Our projects provide necessary infrastructure construction and rehabilitation that benefit everyone – governments, businesses, and private citizens. I believe that developing and maintaining our infrastructure is an important job that can make or break a community. Hence, I really want to be a part of this process and see improved quality of life, safety, and economic flourishing as a result.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
I would love to tour Europe! The countries I want to visit the most are Spain, Italy, France, Germany, Greece, Austria, and Denmark.
What’s one thing you’re learning now, and why is it important?
Throughout college, internships, and now at Dibble, I have been learning to advocate for myself and ask for help when I need it. I used to view asking questions as a weakness, but I’m now changing my mindset and viewing it as something positive that helps me learn and grow.
