Jared Bass
Airport Development Colorado Group Leader and Outdoorsman
Tell us about your hobby.
I’m an outdoors and sports enthusiast. Anything and everything that gets me on a field to play (especially soccer), at the beach, or in the mountains – including hunting.
What is your chosen discipline? Why do you love it?
I chose to be a Civil Engineer with a special emphasis on Airport Development. I went to school with a focus on structural engineering and even worked a few years in that field, but when I got my first taste of airport development, I had to make a change (as do all :)). I love all the dynamics and interconnected working parts of the whole system. Airport development projects encompass every field of engineering and are always new, exciting, and challenging.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
Carpinteria Beach, CA – it is the best-kept secret beach in CA. Perfect sand, sand v-ball, perfect waves, no crowds. When you’re there, the world melts away—pure serenity.
What’s one thing you’re learning now, and why is it important??
I’m learning how to be a better people manager. My career has placed me in a new role where I need to focus on the growth and development of staff while maintaining the highest levels of quality, productivity, and responsive service to clients. Accomplishing this feat will create happy and inspired employees and clients.
