Nick Westphal, PE

Engineer-Lete and Tetris Packer

Do you have a hobby? Tell us about it.
I have many hobbies related to home improvement projects, anything outdoors, coaching kids, and leading Scouts. However, most of my free time is spent running. It is a great way to clear the mind while being active and it can be done anywhere anytime.

What is your chosen discipline (engineering, planning, surveying, etc.)? Why do you love it?
My passion is Engineering. I love working with people to solve challenges and bring design ideas to reality. No two projects are the same, so every day is different which keeps the job fun and exciting.

What’s your superpower?
I am a master Tetris packer! If there are items that need to fit somewhere, be it a car, closet, suitcase, or garage, I will fit them in. Now, getting everything back out may be another challenge…

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
I would go anywhere I have not been. I have been to 43 states and a handful of countries but would love to expand that list. I love visiting new places and experiencing different cultures. Some trips on the bucket list include Australia, many places in Europe, and Machu Picchu to name a few.
