Ryan Toner

Airport Development Business Unit Leader and Road Bike Racer

Tell us about your hobby.
Road biking has really given me a dedicated opportunity to focus on me and my health. I started in 2016 and did my first competitive race in 2018. I hope to continue competing and pushing myself physically. I have grown my endurance from 25-mile competitions working towards my first 100K in March 2020 and hope to achieve my first 100-mile race in 2021!

What is your chosen discipline? Why do you love it?
Engineering, specifically for airports. But more than engineering, I love general airport consulting – helping airports achieve their goals, be it through engineering and construction, project programming and planning, or connecting them with the industry to help them be more successful.

What’s your superpower?
Telekinesis (moving objects with my mind) …or at least that’s what I’d like it to be. Honestly, one of my strengths (“superpowers”) is maximizing what is put in front of me and turning something that is great into something excellent.

If you could write a book about your life, what would the title be and why?
“Who or What is Ryan Today?!?” As long as I can remember, I have used humor and impressions to bring light to the lives of those that I meet. I dress up each Halloween (and have been known to show up as Ron Burgundy to client meetings), but I will also break out with random impersonations and impressions of people and animals – most notably a velociraptor, Will Ferrell’s Harry Caray, and an Australian (think Finding Nemo’s Bruce the Shark or the late Crocodile Hunter). People around me never know when I will strike!
