Breaking Ground in Downtown Phoenix

Dibble is proud to celebrate the groundbreaking of Cordia’s Energy Center Phoenix Plant 4, a significant milestone for the Phoenix Bioscience Core and a major step forward for sustainable infrastructure in downtown Phoenix.

This new 12,000+ square-foot chilled water facility will add approximately 10,200 tons of cooling capacity to the district and will operate on 100% renewable electricity. Designed to meet the growing energy demands of the bioscience core, the expanded system will deliver chilled water to key facilities, including the new ASU Health building, while supporting continued development by the University of Arizona and other partners throughout the district.

The project represents more than a technical achievement—it also emphasizes community connection. The facility will feature artwork created by local high school students, adding a meaningful and creative element to this innovative infrastructure project.

Construction includes CMU walls, structural steel, large-diameter steel piping, and seamless integration into Cordia’s existing chilled water loop. This integration will enhance overall system capacity, operational efficiency, and long-term reliability. District cooling systems like this one play a vital role in improving energy efficiency across multiple buildings by reducing on-site mechanical demands and lowering overall energy use and emissions.

Dibble is honored to support a project that strengthens critical infrastructure, advances sustainability goals, and helps power cutting-edge research in the heart of Phoenix. We look forward to seeing the lasting impact this facility will have on the campus and the broader community.
