Pueblo Memorial Airport Runway 8L-26R and Taxiways Rehabilitation

Runway 8L-26R at Pueblo Memorial Airport (PUB) was experiencing major cracks and needed rehabilitation. PUB is a public airport located outside of Pueblo, CO offering general aviation and commercial air service. As one of Colorado’s 14 commercial airports, it supports over 170,000 aircraft operations annually with more than 100 based aircraft. Runway 8L-26R is one of three runways at PUB and plays a critical role in the airport’s successful operations and economic impacts on the community.

Major cracks on Runway 8L-26R prior to rehabilitation

Due to the runway’s importance at PUB, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) Aeronautics Division provided a grant for the rehabilitation of Runway 8L-26R and connecting taxiways. The project included crack seal, seal coat, and restriping of Runway 8L-26R, as well as all or a portion of Taxiways B, B1, B3, B4, B7, A, A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, A9, A10, A11, A12, C, and C1. A seal coat of GSB88 was applied to the project runway and taxiways. After the seal coat was applied, the markings were repainted. The project rejuvenated the asphalt and slowed the progress of existing cracks and the development of new ones. This project was partially funded by a $500K CDOT aeronautics grant, with a total budget of $555K (including the local match).
